Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said Monday that the government scheduled EGP 14 billion for eradicating slums within two years.
The process will be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Housing and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Development Fund Slums, and Tahya Misr fund, said the premier on the inauguration of Al Asamarat District in Mokattam, southeastern Cairo.
The new district consists of 10,180 residential units over 65 acres at EGP 1.5 billion, Ismail added.
Based on state statistics, the number of slums cross 1,000 areas in which more than 16 million citizens dwell.
